[Dated internally to title page,crediting Auntie Kitsie (Kitsie Bridges) as editor but the 1932 annual was her last one she edited.] VG.Handwritten,blue inked, familial gift presentation inscrptn+date (1935) to recto of ffe.Bright,crisp,clean, glossy colour pictorial artwork with red, yellow and pale blue lettering [NEVER LETS YOU DOWN],illustrated paper-covered card front board/cover,a plain unlettered part-sunned/faded and dulled blue-green cloth blind spine with no nicks,tears or splits,plain charcoal grey paper-covered back board/cover with a couple of ink doodles.Negligible shelf-wear,bumping and inevitable rubbing but with minimal loss, to lower edges and all corners and fairly clean red+white pictorial illustrated eps - lower portion of front hinge partially cracked but still holding.Front cover to a scenic background,is Booby Bear descending in a parachute,Percy Porker likewise but with an umbrella and Ruby Rabbit & Maisie Mouse flying in an aeroplane.Top edges aged/toned but without any trace of foxing /spotting,fore-edges toned too and with minimal sporadic foxing spots; contents generally bright and clean,tight,solid and sound with no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - thick paper used.UK, thick Qrto HB,no dw/dj - as issued,1st edn, 7-107pp [paginated] includes 6 full- page full-colour plates - frntis included - the hexi-bit puzzle completed and glued in place causing the colour plate to be extensively wrinkled,plus numerous b/w illustrations,some with 3 or 4-colour block (red+b/w and/or pink) throughout by various assorted illustrators.Also included interactive activities: making things (cut-outs from pages - the 'Astoradium' cinema cut-out with 1 loose film cut out and that has affected the rebus puzzle on recto,the other 2 film cut-outs on pp104 not used,still intact), puzzles,paged board-type games,colouring competition page attempted,but not completed.Snowman plate with small closed tear to bottom edge.Because of the cut- outs within these annuals,later 1930s ones are hard to find complete.This appears COMPLETE. Bobby Bear was a British comics character in the 'DAILY HERALD' newspaper debuting in 1919.As a young male bear character,he was based on the popular Steiff teddy bear.His friends include Ruby Rabbit and Maisie Mouse.Percy Porker the pig,became a regular character later,as well as Freddy Fox on occasion.Bobby Bear as a cartoon character,predated Rupert the Bear by a year. These annuals were issued from early 1920s and are known to exist as year-dated annuals 1923-26,and 1928-31.The 1923-30 Annuals were edited by Kitsie Bridges (Aunt Kitsie) and pictures by Dora McLaren.The 1931 annual drawings were by 'Meg'. The 1932 annual had some 'Meg' drawings & some by Wilfred Haughton and was the last one edited by Aunt Kitsie. The 1933-39 annuals,were all drawn, written by Wilfred Haughton who had also created the early 'Mickey Mouse' annuals, also for Deans,from 1930-39.He left Deans in 1939.Bobby Bear is then created by a different unnamed artist starting with the 1940 annual. Haughton rarely signed his work,even though his style is very distinctive,this being the ONLY annual having his drawings with his signature. The most unusual Wilfred Haughton story, appeared in the this annual also - entitled 'Mr Nobody' - about a bear who had no body.Oddly,containing several surreal pictures of the head being carried about and then the headless body running around but eventually the two being reunited.
